Job Description

The primary purpose of the job is to produce quality parts by operating all ram extrusion equipment and running production jobs with minimal supervision.

** Essential Duties and Responsibilities

** :

• Operate all ram extrusion jobs with minimal supervision.

• Fill hoppers with material.

• Properly complete paperwork.

• Cut, weigh and record product and scrap as necessary.

• Saw trim and/or fabricate production parts as required.

• Enter in computer Statistical Process Control (SPC) data.

• Prepare boxes and tubes for packaging and make labels.

• Make adjustments to vise, water and heats.

• Properly package and store parts and containers.

• Understand and use set-up sheet.

• Change and set-up wind-up reels.

• Properly use measuring tools including measuring tape, calipers, average (pi) tapes, outside micrometers, and depth micrometers.

• Perform general housekeeping duties such as sweeping floors, mopping water spills, emptying refuse containers, etc.

• Maintain a safe and healthy workplace.

• Maintain and comply with the quality system.

• Exhibit positive, supportive behavior in all interactions with co-workers, supervisors, managers, and customers.

Other Functions

• Perform limited die maintenance, including disassembly and reassembly, cleaning and polishing.

• Clean extruder barrels.

• Setup and operate small machines, including but not limited to hot-stamp, saws and drill press.

• Adjust extruder temperatures.

** Minimum Requirements:

1. **Skills/ knowledge:

**

• Basic math skills, including general understanding of fractions and decimals.

2.

Experience/Education including licenses and certifications:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED).

3. Language Skills:

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present to other employees of the organization.

1. ** Math Skills:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent.

1. **Reasoning Ability:

**

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

1. **Physical Demands:

**

Standing at length required. Walking, crouching, kneeling and lifting greater than 50 lbs. also required. Ability to reach with arms and use hands for manipulating machine parts. Speech and hearing required, primarily for communicating with supervisors and co-workers.

**7. Vision Requirements:

**

• Close vision (clear at 20 inches)

• Distance vision (clear vision at 20 feet or more)

• Color vision (ability to identify and distinguish colors)

• Depth perception (three-dimensional vision, ability to judge distances and spatial relationships)

**8. Working Environment:

**

Requires considerable alertness while working with machines and tools with hot or moving parts. Moderate to loud noise levels in plant area with continuous grinding and banging and intermittent high-pitched noise from saws.
